Former Everton and Portsmouth striker Yakubu has passed a medical at Reading and is now officially a Royals player, according to reports.
The 32-year-old free agent was said to be locked in talks with Steve Clarke over a move to the Madejski Stadium, and having now thrashed out terms on a short-term deal, the club are due to announce his arrival.
Yakubu last played in English football in 2012 while on Blackburn Rovers' books, but having recently left Qatari club Al Rayyan he is seen as a cheap, low-risk signing by the Championship outfit, who are under financial restrictions this month.
Reading are currently 16th in the league table following their 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday last time out.
