Nicky Hammond: 'Sevilla could sign Daniel Carrico'

Reading director of football Nicky Hammond believes that midfielder Daniel Carrico could sign a permanent deal with Sevilla in the summer.

Reading director of football Nicky Hammond has revealed that a "potential deal" is in place for midfielder Daniel Carrico to complete a move to Sevilla.

Carrico has impressed during a season-long loan spell in La Liga, and despite suggestions that the 25-year-old could return to the Madejski Stadium, Hammond has insisted that he "assumes" the Spanish club will be keen to secure his signature on a permanent basis.

The 46-year-old told the Reading Post: "I have a potential deal in place with Sevilla for him.

"I'm pleased because he's a fantastic boy and he's gone there and played very well. He's a very well respected player in their group.

"Sevilla have an option to buy. He's done very well, so the assumption would be that they will take that option up."

Carrico, who has made just three appearances for the Royals, has featured on 24 occasions during his time in Spain.
