Craig Goodwin given Reading trial

Premier League strugglers Reading have handed a trial to Australian youngster Craig Goodwin.

The 21-year-old, who currently plays for Newcastle Jets, will now spend the next fortnight with the Royals.

"I can't express enough how great an opportunity it is," said the defender. "You don't get these chances every day, so for myself to have this chance is something I'm very thankful for.

"I don't have any expectations heading over there. It will be great to learn and experience the game over there."

Goodwin has made 25 appearances in the A-League this season.
