Reading manager Nigel Adkins insists that the club will not be forced to sell players because of their relegation from the Premier League.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has insisted that the club will not be forced to sell players at the end of the season.

The Royals had their relegation to the Championship confirmed last weekend with a goalless draw against Queens Park Rangers.

"We will want to do the business we want to do, that's the important message," Adkins is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"Yes we will be in the Championship next season, but this is a well-run club and whatever business we do is because we want to.

"Like every club you cut your cloth accordingly and players who were on Premier League wages won't be on them in the Championship, which is prudent business."

Reading continue their campaign on Saturday when they travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.
