Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers play out six-goal thriller

Wolverhampton Wanderers have extended their unbeaten run to eight games following a dramatic 3-3 draw against Reading at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

The first real chance of the game fell to George Saville, but the Wolves midfielder could not beat Adam Federici and the chance went begging.

Simon Cox then headed wide from Jordan Obita's free kick as the home side recovered from a poor start to the game.

They went in front after Michael Hector saw off the challenge of Richard Stearman to powerfully head home Oliver Norwood's cross in what was only the fourth goal Wolves have conceded this season.

Glenn Murray almost added a spectacular second but unfortunately for the Royals his drive flew wide of the post.

Wolves responded through Leon Clarke, who turned and fired wide following good work from Kevin McDonald. He was offside in any case, but it was an encouraging period for the visitors as they went in behind at the break.

The second half began in spectacular fashion as Wolves turned the match around with two goals from James Henry and Lee Evans in the space of five minutes.

Reading equalised almost immediately, however, when Cox set up Jake Taylor to fire home, adding more drama to an already remarkable second period.

Clarke was then presented with a wonderful opportunity to put Wolves back in front after getting onto the end of Henry's free kick but his header went wide of the goal.

The game looked to be heading towards a draw, until substitute Dave Edwards flicked home a near-post corner with five minutes remaining to put the visitors ahead once more.

Yet Reading struck back again in incredible fashion through Murray, whose deflected effort found the top corner of the net with just seconds remaining of normal time to see the points shared.

The result means that Kenny Jackett's side remain in third place in the Championship table, while Reading move up to 11th.
