Steve Lomas: 'Paolo Di Canio needs to change if he goes to Reading'

Steve Lomas thinks that Paolo Di Canio 'won't get away' with his fiery antics if he becomes the new manager of Reading.

St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas believes that Paolo Di Canio will need to change his attitude if he is to become the new manager of Reading.

The recently-sacked Swindon Town boss has been heavily tipped to take charge at the Madejski Stadium following Brian McDermott's dismissal on Monday.

The Italian coach made headlines at the League One club for having a public spat with one of his players, as well as frequently criticising team members to the media.

"He can't do that at Reading," Lomas told talkSPORT. "The players will just think it is a bit of a joke. There's no way he will be able to get away with it at Reading.

"He may be able to get away with it at somewhere like Swindon, where the lads aren't going to fight back, but he definitely won't get away with it in the Premier League. There's too much experience in that Reading team."

Reading are currently second-from-bottom in the Premier League table with nine games left to play.
