Man arrested over Garath McCleary racial abuse

A 36-year-old man is arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Reading midfielder Garath McCleary in the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Bradford City.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Reading midfielder Garath McCleary during their FA Cup quarter-final win over Bradford City on Monday evening.

McCleary set up Hal Robson-Kanu's opener before scoring the second goal after nine minutes in the 3-0 victory.

The 27-year-old Jamaica international was in the process of taking a corner just before half time when the incident is thought to have taken place in front of the Bradford fans at the Madejski Stadium.

Police have confirmed that a 36-year-old man from Bradford was arrested.

He has been bailed until April 16, pending further inquiries.
