Goals from Chris Hegarty and Andrew Murdoch give Rangers a 2-0 win over Linfield in tonight's friendly.

Rangers recorded a 2-0 victory over Irish part-timers Linfield in tonight's friendly clash at Ibrox Stadium.

The hosts, who fielded a strong starting XI, took the lead several minutes before half time when Chris Hegarty turned in Fraser Aird's cross.

Linfield captain Peter Thompson found the net just after the hour mark, only to have his goal ruled out for offside.

Rangers sealed the win late on through youngster Andrew Murdoch, whose deflected drive deceived visiting goalkeeper Alan Blayney and crept into the net.

The Gers hosted the match to pay their gratitude to Linfield for holding a fundraising match for them last May, when the former Scottish champions were facing financial collapse.
