Rangers pegged back late on by Kilmarnock

Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw by Kilmarnock in Wednesday night's Scottish Premiership encounter at Ibrox.

Rangers have been held to a 1-1 draw by Kilmarnock in Wednesday night's Scottish Premiership encounter at Ibrox.

The hosts took the lead on the stroke of half time, when Alfredo Morelos whipped a cross into the area which Jason Holt rifled high into the Killie net.

Pedro Caixinha's charges had the opportunity to double their lead from the penalty spot in second-half injury time when Eduardo Herrera was fouled inside the area.

A melee took place in which Gers midfielder Ryan Jack saw red, and once order had been restored, Daniel Candeias stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by Jamie McDonald.

With the ball swiftly played upfield by the Killie goalkeeper, Stephen O'Donnell whipped a cross at the back post which Chris Burke duly converted to silence the home crowd.

The result sees Gers slip to fourth in the Scottish Premiership table, while Kilmarnock remain in the bottom two but are now just one point behind 10th-placed Dundee.
