Ally McCoist relieved following victory over Queen's Park

McCoist: 'I have sympathy for Queen's Park'

Rangers manager Ally McCoist revealed his relief following his side's dramatic victory over Queen's Park.

A stoppage-time goal from Fraiser Aird secured the three points for the league leaders but McCoist admitted that he felt sorry for the opposition's manager, Gardner Speirs.

"Of course I have sympathy. Gardner is a good lad," McCoist said. "His team gives him absolutely everything and I'm sure you will agree they were really well organised.

"They probably had their better opportunities when we were a bit reckless in pushing forward. It would need to be a cruel man who didn't have any degree of sympathy for the opposition.

"At the same time, I've got to look after our own corner and I'm thrilled with the victory. It was a relief."

Rangers currently lead the Scottish Third Division by 15 points.
