Stuart McCall keen to stay at Rangers despite playoff final defeat

Stuart McCall suggests that he wants to stay in charge of Rangers despite the team's Scottish Premiership playoff final defeat to Motherwell.

Stuart McCall has indicated that he would like to remain in charge of Rangers despite their Scottish Premiership playoff final defeat to Motherwell.

The Gers' bid to return to the top flight of Scottish football next season was ended on Sunday as a 3-0 loss at Fir Park saw them beaten 6-1 on aggregate.

McCall's future at Ibrox Stadium has been in doubt in recent weeks, but the former midfielder has suggested that he wants to stay at the helm.

"I've enjoyed the last few months," he told BBC Sport. "If anyone said when I came in that we would still be playing today, I would have snapped it up.

"I think we have done a decent job and it just hasn't been good enough. Recruitment is going to be key next season. My past record shows that I can recruit people and get the best out of them. The scouting network is non-existent and a head of recruitment is essential."

McCall took charge of Rangers back in February, replacing Kenny McDowall in the dugout.
