Chicago consortium bid for Rangers

A Chicago-based consortium have reportedly put a bid forward to take over at stricken Scottish club Rangers.

The SPL champions' administrators set today as the deadline for any potential bidders to make their interest known to the Glasgow-based outfit.

"This is an opportunity to take one of Europe's great football clubs out of a dangerous situation to provide sustainability. It's a very exciting challenge," a spokesman from the American consortium told Sky Sports News.

Former Rangers director Paul Murray is in contention to buy the club with the Blue Knights consortium, while Scottish businessman Brian Kennedy is also in the running.

Reports have claimed that Shazad Bakhsh is trying to form a group from Singapore to place a bid before the end of the day.
