Can Rangers keep hold of goal-machine Alfredo Morelos?

Potentially the most talented player plying his trade in the Scottish Premier League, there is no doubting the value of Alfredo Morelos to Rangers. Netting a staggering 29 goals in the 2019/20 season (which was cut short), an impressive 14 of these coming in Europe, the 23-year-old has stats to rival some of the top strikers in world football. Yet there has always been a shadow over this goal-hungry Colombian - his temperament. With eight yellows and two reds in this season alone, Morelos is well-known for losing his cool, and for moments of ill-discipline, something that Celtic (and in particular Scott Brown) have been able to take advantage of. There is one thing for certain, Rangers will want to keep hold of their top goal-scorer if they are to challenge for their first SPL in 10 years. Stevie has taken Rangers closer to silverware than they have come in a decade, but, to take the next step, he will want to retain the fiery South American.

Discipline and Passion
In the past, Morelos has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, or at the top level, but, as of yet, he has remained at the club and seems to be committed and happy. Perhaps his disciplinary problems have worked in the club's favour, with other clubs possibly being put off by his attitude and the on-field problems he brings with him. Although he has a terrible record when it comes to cards, Gerrard seems to command his respect and know how to get the best out of the player. He has acknowledged it is Morelos's fire and fierce desire that makes him the player he is; the manager himself had the same passion as a player. Gerrard has also seen the same issues with his England teammate, Wayne Rooney and may have seen his form dip when managers tried to tame the beast. It was argued that the same wild streak which leads to red cards, nasty challenges and fights was the same streak that led to brilliance and elevated him to the striker he was. It is clear that if you can find a way to control the Colombian's temper, there is one heck of a player in there!

Possible suitors
Morelos has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs as his odds are very elevated. You can check it on the online sport betting in UK site Betiton™️ sign up here and place your bets on the following games of your favourite players or teams. The likes of Leicester, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Ham are thought to be interested. They are all keen to add fire-power to their ranks and could turn to the explosive Colombian. However, Rangers' sporting director Ross Wilson has insisted that the club will not sell the forward, or his teammates, on the cheap. Among the possible suitors are Leicester, led by Brendan Rodgers, the former Celtic manager, who will know only too well the mercurial talent Morelos possesses. Maybe he thinks he has a better chance than his former captain (Gerrard) of getting the best out of El Bufalo? What are the odds he stays at the club next season? UK online bookmakers may hold the answer.

A great deal can be read into social media posts and in a modern world where Instagram and Twitter rule, and a lot can be learnt from the movements of players online. In the past, transfers have been predicted by eagle-eyed Instagram users, spotting a 'like' or decoding a cryptic post. A close look at the Colombian's Instagram seems to show a man content at the club. He recently posted pictures of himself and the manager on the pitch. It is clear he respects the boss and let's hope he takes that into account going into next season and chooses to stay. If not, then the club will look to move quickly to find a replacement, with the likes of Sam Cosgrove at Aberdeen being touted as a possible one. With Morelos contracted until 2023, the Gers will be hoping he stays and fires the club to silverware in the coming season.

Rangers fans will be eagerly awaiting the restart and watching the ins and outs of the transfer window. One thing is for certain, with Stevie behind the wheel we can look forward to big things!
