Karl Henry signs new one-year deal at Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers confirm that Karl Henry has signed a new one-year contract at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers have announced that Karl Henry has put pen to paper on a new contract at Queens Park Rangers.

The 32-year-old, who moved to Loftus Road on a free transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2013, has opted to trigger the 12-month option in his contract.

"I'm pleased to have taken up my year's option," Henry told the club's official website. "I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead with this group of players.

"Hopefully we can bounce back from last year's disappointments and give the fans something positive to shout about."

Director of football Les Ferdinand added: "Karl showed last season, in a difficult campaign for us, what he can bring to the side, so we're pleased he's taken his option up.

"Experienced players are going to be key for us in the Championship this season, especially with the younger signings we've already signed this summer. Karl's heart, energy, desire and quality will be really important for us this coming season."

Henry has made 47 starts and 17 substitute appearances, and scored one goal during his time at QPR so far.
