QPR boss Chris Ramsey: 'Job opportunities not based solely on ethnicity'

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey does not believe that his ethnicity will prevent him from getting another management job in football in the future.

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey does not believe that his ethnicity alone will prevent him from getting a job in football management in the future.

Recently, QPR's director of football Les Ferdinand suggested that English football is inherently racist, and former Liverpool star John Barnes believes that he missed coaching opportunities because of the colour of his skin.

When asked about the issue in this morning's press conference, Ramsey said: "There are probably some managers who are better suited from a profile point of view and there are other managers that should have had jobs of this magnitude. If it doesn't work out for me here, as a manager of any race it's going to be difficult to get another job, because you don't just walk into another job.

"As a black man, it's always going to be difficult anyway. I don't think it's going to be solely based on my ethnicity whether I get a job or not. The problems of the past will still be there."

Ramsey is the Premier League's only black manager.
