Preview: Queens Park Rangers vs. Rotherham United - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Queens Park Rangers and Rotherham United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Queens Park Rangers will look to bounce back from a midweek defeat to Blackpool when they play host to Rotherham United in the Championship on Saturday.

While the R's have lost twice this term, Rotherham enter the weekend contest still unbeaten in all competitions.

QPR sit in 16th place after collecting four points from as many games, but they will look to clinch a win on Saturday that would move them up the table.

Since beating Middlesbrough 3-2 on the second matchday of the Championship season, the R's have suffered a first-round exit in the EFL Cup, while they have failed to win their two league games against Sunderland and Blackpool.

They did at least claim their first away point of the season against the Black Cats courtesy of a 2-2 draw before losing 1-0 at home to Blackpool on Tuesday.

Despite losing in midweek, QPR can take inspiration from the fact that their previous two home league defeats before the Blackpool contest were followed by a victory in the next home match.

Although, Beale will be concerned with a defence that has conceded at least once in their last four games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Rotherham will be pleased with their start to the season after winning promotion from League One last season.

The Millers began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Swansea City before picking up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Port Vale in the EFL Cup.

Their best performance of their opening four games then followed as they swept aside Reading 4-0, scoring three goals within 18 minutes of kickoff.

Rotherham travelled to Deepdale in midweek for their first away league game of the season, and they managed to take a point from the contest after playing out a 0-0 draw.

Paul Warne will hope that his side can continue their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday as they attempt to end a seven-game winless away run in Championship encounters.

Team News

QPR are unable to call upon the services of Jake Clarke-Salter and Taylor Richards, who are ruled out with hamstring and knee injuries respectively.

After featuring as a second-half substitute, Olamide Shodipo could be given a place in Saturday's starting lineup, which would result in Tyler Roberts dropping down to the bench.

Lyndon Dykes will continue to lead the line for the hosts, and the Scotland international will aim to improve on a return of one goal in the opening four league games.

As for Rotherham, Tom Eaves will miss out with an ankle problem, while a muscle injury will prevent Joshua Kayode from featuring on Saturday.

The Millers are expected to continue with a back three that features Lee Peltier, Cameron Humphreys and Grant Hall.

Oliver Rathbone was used as a half time substitute against Preston, however, the midfielder may have the opportunity to play from the start against QPR.

Queens Park Rangers possible starting lineup:
Dieng; Laird, Dickie, Dunne, Paal, Johansen, Field; Dozzell, Chair, Shodipo; Dykes

Rotherham United possible starting lineup:
Johansson; Peltier, Humphreys, Hall; Harding, Wiles, Barlaser, Rathbone, Ferguson; Ogbene, Washington

We say: Queens Park Rangers 2-2 Rotherham United

QPR are winless in their last three competitive games, and we think that they will have to settle for a point when they face a Rotherham side who are yet to lose this season.
