QPR boss praises virus-stricken squad

QPR manager Neil Warnock was full of praise for his virus-striken squad after they beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park yesterday.

Tommy Smith scored the only goal of the game as Rangers recovered from their 4-0 opening day home defeat to Bolton.

"We have had a bit of a nightmare since the takeover on Thursday. We have had a virus in the club and three lads went down yesterday," he told Sky Sports .

"DJ Campbell had to be sent home. He collapsed. Taarabt and Connolly had it but we played them, and then Bothroyd woke up with it this morning.

"To get a result like that in those circumstances, I have got to praise all the players. We were resolute today. It is a great result and we have really messed a few coupons up this weekend."

Tony Fernandes completed his takeover of the club on Thursday, acquiring a 66% stake.
