PSV vs. Cambuur - prediction, team news, lineups

Fresh off the back of an opening-day victory, PSV Eindhoven welcome Cambuur to the Philips Stadion on Saturday in matchday two of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season.

On the other hand, Cambuur come into the contest in search of their first points on the board following defeat in their season opener last time out.

Match preview

PSV Eindhoven got their league campaign off to a perfect start with a 2-0 victory over Heracles at the Erve Asito on Saturday.

Following a drab first 30 minutes, goals in either half from Bruma and Noni Madueke helped Roger Schmidt's men secure a convincing win in Almelo.

The Rood-witten suffered a 2-1 defeat in their Champions League playoff first-leg tie versus Benfica on Wednesday and have work to do in the return leg next week.

In the meantime, last year's runners-up seek to make it two league wins from two outings against an opposing side who they have got the better of more often than not.

Saturday's hosts have come out on top in six of the last seven clashes in all competitions, with the only exception being a goalless draw eight years ago.

Back in the top-flight after a five-year absence, Cambuur succumbed to a late 2-1 defeat versus Groningen in their Eredivisie season-opener in Leeuwarden on Sunday.

Henk de Jong's men went into the interval trailing thanks to Ahmed El Messaoudi's opener just past the half-hour mark, but they restored parity in the 68th-minute through Robin Maulun before Jorgen Strand Larsen came off the bench to decide the contest in stoppage time.

While De Geelblauwen were left empty-handed in their opening fixture, they more than gave a good account of themselves and should feel confident heading into this weekend's game.

However, Saturday's visitors will be going up against of the league's hotshots and will need to be on song right from the first whistle.

Team News

Ritsu Doan will have to wait a little longer for his PSV debut as he remains sidelined with a muscle injury which he picked up in action with the Japanese Olympics team.

Richard Ledezma, Shurandy Sambo and Mees Kreekels miss out through knee injuries, while Maxime Delanghe continues to battle with a shoulder problem.

The home side will also be without the services of Nick Viergever who missed his side's European outing in midweek due to personal reasons.

Sam Hendriks did not enjoy the best of debuts for Cambuur as he was subbed off less than an hour into the contest, but he is expected to lead the line for the visitors once again.

PSV Eindhoven possible starting lineup:

Mvogo; Max, Boscagli, Ramalho, Teze; Sangare, Propper, Gotze; Gakpo, Zahavi, Madueke

Cambuur possible starting lineup:

Stevens; Bangura, Schouten, MacIntosh, Schmidt; Maulun, Breij, Hoedemakers; Kallon, Doodeman, Hendriks

We say: PSV Eindhoven 3-0 Cambuur

PSV saw their 100% start to the season come to an end in midweek, but a quick response is expected from a team of their calibre. We fancy them to cruise to victory in this one by a substantial margin and maintain their perfect record in the league.
