PSG join Premier League clubs in hunt for Real Madrid star

Paris Saint-Germain are strongly interested in signing a frustrated Real Madrid player who could be available this summer.

In mid-March, Matteo Moretto revealed that Eduardo Camavinga was transferable. The Italian journalist stopped short of saying the Frenchman would definitely leave the Bernabeu this summer, but made clear that Real Madrid would not necessarily stand in his way.

"He's not untouchable; there are already Premier League clubs interested in him. For now, Real Madrid hasn't set a price, but it's clear they don't want to go below €50m," he told Radio Marca.

PSG compete with Premier League for Camavinga

A few weeks on, with Manchester United having joined Liverpool in pursuit of the potential Madrid departure, Camavinga is now attracting interest from a new major European player: PSG. According to AS, the Parisian club have expressed strong interest in the former Rennes midfielder and are courting him ahead of this summer.

The French international would give Luis Enrique an additional option in midfield alongside Vitinha, Joao Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery and Fabian Ruiz — creating a dense, well-stocked engine room of the highest quality. However, a Camavinga departure is not yet confirmed.

According to the Spanish outlet, uncertainty surrounds the Frenchman and his future. No decision has yet been taken. A departure does, however, look increasingly likely. The player, who has missed nine matches through injury this season, does not hold an important role under Arbeloa.

Camavinga unhappy with his Madrid role

Despite his versatility — deployed as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, inverted right winger, inverted left winger and full-back this season — he has been unable to establish himself in his preferred position in central midfield. The 23-year-old has made 34 appearances this season but holds only the 11th-highest minutes tally in the squad, ranking 12th in terms of playing time in key fixtures, according to AS.

Camavinga is very much a rotation option in midfield. That situation is not to his liking and is generating frustration for the French international, who risks missing the next World Cup if his role in Madrid remains limited. PSG, who have followed him since his breakthrough at Rennes, have renewed their interest and are now among his suitors, alongside the leading English clubs.
