PSG transfer news: Champions League winners to rival Man Utd, Real Madrid for £51.8m-rated midfielder?

PSG identify €60m midfield target

After a quiet start to the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain appear ready to step up their business. The Ligue 1 champions are now being linked with a €60m-rated (£51.8m) midfielder.

Unlike in recent seasons, it has been a relatively calm summer in the French capital so far. However, Luis Campos is expected to accelerate several deals in the coming days, including moves for goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier and defender Illia Zabarnyi. With an attacking reinforcement also reportedly on the agenda, PSG are now showing interest in a new midfielder.

According to PSGInside_Actu on X, the club are targeting Ederson. The Atalanta midfielder is attracting plenty of interest in the transfer market, and PSG have now officially entered the race, albeit behind some of their competitors.

PSG face stiff competition for Ederson

At 26, Ederson has established himself as one of the top midfielders in Serie A. A Brazil international with two caps to his name, he helped Atalanta win the 2024 Europa League and has a reported valuation of €60m (approximately £52m). The Italian club are reportedly unwilling to accept any offers below that figure.

Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United are also said to be keen on the player, while Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are thought to be keeping a close eye on developments.

While PSG’s midfield was a standout area last season, the club may still be looking to add depth to the position. It remains to be seen whether the European champions will be willing to spend such a sum on a role that is not considered a top priority, particularly with more experienced profiles also under consideration.
