Paris Saint-Germain confirm Marco Verratti contract extension

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that midfielder Marco Verratti has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The 20-year-old Italian has committed himself to the French champions until 2018.

"Paris Saint-Germain are very pleased to announce that Marco Verratti has extended his contract for another year," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The extension shows the will of Paris Saint-Germain to build a project for the future and to build one of the greatest teams in Europe."

Verratti joined PSG from Pescara in the summer of 2012.
