Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly holding out for a return to the Premier League despite interest from Nice.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen to return to management in the Premier League.

Despite winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophee des Champions in an 18-month spell at PSG, Pochettino was sacked from his Parisiens post earlier this year.

Failure to bring Champions League glory to the Parc des Princes led the PSG board to relieve the 50-year-old of his duties, as the capital club were knocked out of Europe by Real Madrid in the last-16 stage in 2021-22.

As a result, Pochettino is currently out of work and seeking out his next role in the game, with Manchester United ultimately opting for Erik ten Hag as their new manager despite persistent links with the Argentine.

A return to Tottenham was also mooted for Pochettino before Antonio Conte confirmed he would be staying on for the 2022-23 season, and he was also tipped to replace Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

However, Graham Potter was preferred by Todd Boehly and co, leaving Pochettino still searching for his next club several weeks into the new campaign.

According to ESPN, Pochettino is eyeing up a return to the English top flight, despite speculation surrounding another stint in Ligue 1 with Nice, whom Galtier left to replace his counterpart at PSG.

Les Aiglons re-hired Lucien Favre following Galtier's move to the Parc des Princes, but the former Borussia Dortmund manager is already facing an uncertain future given his side's poor start to the new term.

Nice are owned by billionaire businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe - the richest man in the United Kingdom - and he is said to have earmarked Pochettino as his top candidate to succeed Favre.

The Ligue 1 side would also have no problem meeting Pochettino's financial demands, but the 50-year-old would be unlikely to accept those terms given his desire to return to England.

Pochettino is supposedly still held in high regard by those in the top flight of English football after spending nearly seven years in the Premier League with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Espanyol manager led Southampton to an eighth-placed finish in the 2013-14 campaign before moving to Spurs, where he achieved three consecutive top-three finishes between 2015 and 2018.

Pochettino has a record of 132 wins, 61 draws and 63 defeats from 256 Premier League games as a manager, but he was sacked by Tottenham in November 2019 after winning just three of his first 12 games in that season.

During his time at PSG, Pochettino racked up 56 wins, 13 draws and 15 losses from his 84 games in charge, as Les Parisiens won the Ligue 1 title with four games to spare last season.
