David Beckham says that last night's appearance for Paris Saint-Germain was the end of his career, despite the fact that PSG have one more league game this season.

David Beckham has said that last night's appearance for Paris Saint-Germain was the end of his career.

The Englishman, who announced his retirement earlier this week, started and captained PSG against Brest last night and although the Ligue 1 champions still have one more league match, it is unlikely that Beckham will feature at Lorient next Sunday.

"To finish my career here is special," the 38-year-old told reporters after last night's game. "Paris is the most beautiful place in the world. I'm sad to go.

"I feel a lot of satisfaction and emotion. Tonight is the end of my career, for sure. I've done my time at all the clubs where I've been, be it Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy.

"Now, we'll see what happens. After a 22-year career, I'm going to take a few months off to relax with my family. I said before that, one way or another, I would stay in Paris. It's special for me here and I want to continue to be part of PSG, one way or another."

Beckham was substituted in the 83rd minute at the Parc des Princes last night and left the field with tears in his eyes.
