Carlo Ancelotti: 'Maybe David Beckham will start against Valencia'

Ancelotti coy on Beckham role

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has remained coy on whether he will start David Beckham against Valencia on Wednesday.

The English midfielder has started just one game for the French club since joining them on a free transfer in January, coming on as a substitute on two other occasions.

There has been speculation that Beckham could start the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Valencia at home, but Ancelotti refuses to confirm the reports.

"David Beckham has played two [Ligue 1] matches since he arrived and has played well," the Italian told reporters.

"He provides us with his qualities and his character and he's as important as any other player here. Maybe he will play tomorrow, in place of the suspended Marco Verratti, maybe he won't.

"We need to forget about the first leg and play at full speed for 90 minutes. We must defend and attack well during the entire match."

PSG won the first leg 2-1 in Spain last month.
