Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao suffers thigh injury

Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao could face a period on the sidelines after picking up a thigh injury during Portugal's 3-1 defeat to Brazil on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old was replaced early in the second period in the international friendly, but the seriousness of the injury is unclear.

According to reports in Spain, the left-back will be unavailable for his club's trip to Villarreal at the weekend, but could return before the end of the month.

Coentrao came close to joining Manchester United on loan in the summer transfer window.
