Port Vale's Doug Loft considering legal action against Daniel Jones

Port Vale captain Doug Loft may take legal action against former teammate Daniel Jones following the training ground incident which left him with serious facial injuries.

Port Vale captain Doug Loft has revealed that he may take legal action against Daniel Jones following the bust-up that left him with a broken cheekbone.

Jones has been sacked by the League One outfit for his training ground punch on Loft, who will not play again this season because of his severe facial injuries.

Loft, 27, is currently focusing on his recovery, but has admitted his annoyance at Jones taking him out of the shop window as he attempted to impress other clubs ahead of potentially leaving Vale Park when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

"I just want to get my face right and then I will go away and talk with my family and decide about my future," he told Sky Sports News.

"We went into a tackle and as I was getting up off the floor he hit me. I fell backwards and sat on the floor, the gaffer sent him in and I went to hospital for X-rays.

"At the minute, I am angry. I have been playing really well and I was getting a lot of interest. I knew people were watching me. I am annoyed and upset that I will miss the rest of the season."

Loft also revealed that Jones has texted him to apologise for the incident.
