Adams undergoes hip operation

Port Vale manager Micky Adams is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing a hip replacement operation on Monday morning.

The 51-year-old, who has admitted that he will not be available for Saturday's trip to Tranmere Rovers, took charge of the club in 2011.

"I don't know. It all depends on my recovery and what I have to do. I am going to be in hospital for four days anyway and, with that type of surgery, I think I would be stupid to turn up at Tranmere," he told The Sentinel.

"I am disappointed I am having to get it done, but I was starting to get more frustrated. I think one of my strengths is on the training ground and when I am not doing that then it is a problem for me."

First-team coach Rob Page has taken over the managerial duties.
