Oxford United beat 10-man Mansfield Town to go top

Oxford United return to the top of the League Two table after winning 3-1 at 10-man Mansfield Town.

Oxford United have returned to the top of the League Two table after winning at 10-man Mansfield Town.

The U's went ahead against the run of play on 13 minutes, when Sean Rigg tapped home to score his first goal of the season after Danny Rose's long-range effort had been parried by Alan Marriott.

Mansfield midfielder Jamie McGuire then received his seventh career red card midway through the opening period for a two-footed tackle on Rose.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Stags pulled level in first-half stoppage time as Lee Stevenson netted his third goal in four games.

However, the hosts fell behind again before half time as James Constable scored his 100th goal for Oxford, finishing neatly from close range following Ryan Williams's pinpoint cross.

Williams, who is on loan from Fulham, then completed the scoring after the break to make sure Oxford recorded their sixth away win in League Two this season.
