Olympiacos confirm Eric Abidal capture

Olympiacos have completed the signing of defender Eric Abidal from AS Monaco on a two-year deal.

The 34-year-old, who has won 21 titles during a glittering career, recently signed a 12-month contract extension at the Ligue 1 outfit.

However, Olympiacos confirmed on their official website that the former Barcelona left-back will join the club after successfully completing a medical earlier today.

Abidal was diagnosed with liver cancer in March 2011, undergoing surgery the following year to rectify the issue.
