Dorus de Vries agrees new Nottingham Forest contract

Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has revealed that the club have reached an agreement over a new contract with goalkeeper Dorus de Vries.

The 34-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season, but he has agreed to a new two-year deal which will begin when his contract runs out.

"I'm very pleased to say that Dorus de Vries has signed a two-year extension to his contract, effective from the summer," tweeted Al-Hasawi this evening.

De Vries started four straight league games in January, but was dropped to the bench on Saturday at Brighton & Hove Albion as Dougie Freedman, in his first game in charge, brought Karl Darlow back into the starting lineup.

Academy product Darlow is on loan from Newcastle United after signing for the Magpies last summer, meaning that the number one spot could open for De Vries heading into next season when Darlow returns North.
