Nuno Espirito Santo facing shock Nottingham Forest sack as club 'evaluate' potential replacement for one specific reason

Nottingham Forest 'evaluating' replacements as Marinakis considers shock Nuno sack

Nottingham Forest are allegedly evaluating their options as they consider whether to shockingly sack Nuno Espirito Santo.

The head coach has been instrumental in delivering an unforeseen upturn in fortunes at the City Ground, taking Forest from relegation candidates to Europa League participants in the space of less than two years.

Forest also started the new Premier League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Brentford and have made some of the biggest signings in their history over the last week.

Those additions came in the aftermath of Nuno revealing his frustration at a perceived lack of activity and being left with a weakened squad prior to that game with the Bees.

Seven days on from that outburst, Forest appear to be in a strong position to make a charge for the top seven and silverware this campaign, yet it appears that there are no guarantees of Nuno remaining in the dugout.

Marinakis considering sacking Nuno

As per journalist Matteo Moretto, who was commenting on X, owner Evangelos Marinakis is open to sacking Nuno for his recent comments.

The report claims that tension behind the scenes at the East Midlands has grown to the extent where Marinakis and club officials are already considering alternatives.

Marinakis has been in the headlines for several reasons in recent months, initially taking to the pitch to vent his anger at Nuno after Forest were held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester City and miscommunication over a serious injury suffered by Taiwo Awoniyi left the team down to 10 men.

He was also unusually present in an interview featuring Morgan Gibbs-White after the playmaker decided to sign a new contract amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Both occurrences have led to a negative reputation of Marinakis being formed on social media, and reports suggesting that Nuno may be sacked will not help that perception.

Nuno and Forest are currently preparing for a Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace on Sunday where a hostile atmosphere is already inevitable on the back of the Eagles being demoted from the Europa League to Conference League with Forest the beneficiaries.

What happens next?

Whether Marinakis is attempting to flex his authority or there is genuine intention to replace Nuno remains to be seen, but he faces bringing disruption to Forest when they are still riding a crest of a wave.

Nuno boasts a record of 28 wins, 19 draws and 24 defeats since arriving at Forest in December 2020, an outstanding return when Forest were battling relegation and points deductions during his opening six months.

He is arguably only one full-back away from having his ideal squad make-up for the upcoming schedule and Forest fans will be hoping that a resolution can be found where he stays put.
