Nottingham Forest appoint Dougie Freedman as club's new manager

Nottingham Forest appoint former Reds player Dougie Freedman as the club's new manager, hours after Stuart Pearce was relieved of duties at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest have appointed former Reds striker Dougie Freedman as the club's new manager.

The 40-year-old, who turned out for the East Midlands outfit between 1998 and 2000, has previously managed Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers.

Stuart Pearce, Forest's previous manager, was relieved of his duties on Sunday evening after a poor run of form that saw them win just three of their 23 games since September.

The former England Under-21 manager has since been offered an "alternative role" at the City Ground, the club adding that they would be announcing further details of Freedman's role at the club "in due course".
