Leroy Fer receives Netherlands call-up

Norwich City midfielder Leroy Fer has been called into the Netherlands squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The 23-year-old had initially been left out of Louis van Gaal's team, but injuries to Swansea City midfielder Jonathan de Guzman and Stijn Schaars of PSV Eindhoven have resulted in Fer being drafted in.

The Oranje, who have already qualified for next year's World Cup in Brazil, take on Hungary in Amsterdam on Friday night, before concluding their campaign with a trip to Turkey the following Tuesday.

Fer has made two previous appearances at senior international level.
