Norwich City chief executive David McNally insists no Hammers bid for Grant Holt

Norwich chief exec: "No West Ham bid for Holt"

Norwich City chief executive David McNally has taken to Twitter to quash talk of a West Ham United bid for Grant Holt.

A number of sources have reported the Hammers as making a £4million bid for the unsettled striker.

McNally Tweeted this afternoon to rubbish the speculation, saying: "Just for the record, we have not received a £4m bid for Grant from West Ham as apparently been suggested."

Holt is understood to have placed a transfer request and is desperate to leave Carrow Road this summer. Newly-promoted West Ham will face stiff competition for the in-form striker if interested, with Aston Villa and Sunderland both heavily linked with Holt's signature.

Holt produced an inspired debut season in the Premier League, scoring 15 goals to finish as the highest-scoring Englishman in the division behind Wayne Rooney.
