Norwich City edge Swansea City thriller

Norwich City extend their unbeaten Premier League run to nine matches with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Norwich City survived a second-half Swansea City comeback to triumph 4-3 at the Liberty Stadium in a remarkable clash between two of the Premier League's form sides.

Michael Laudrup's outfit came into the fixture unbeaten in seven domestic matches but it was the visitors who dominated the first period.

Swans keeper Gerhard Tremmel saved well from Bradley Johnson's second-minute header, before Jonny Howson came even closer to an opener when he struck the post with his strike from the edge of the area.

Steven Whittaker then earned Chris Hughton's side the lead by driving from the right touchline before shooting under Tremmel for his maiden Canaries goal.

Fellow defender Sebastien Bassong headed his second in as many games to double Norwich's advantage before Grant Holt nodded in a third before the break.

Swansea came flying out of the blocks after the interval and reduced the deficit to just one courtesy of two goals in the space of eight minutes.

Bargain-buy Michu netted his 12th of the season by converting from a Ben Davies cross following patient build-up from the home side.

Jonathan de Guzman then bundled the ball home from close range on 59 minutes and the hosts thought they were level when Itay Schechter headed the ball into the net.

However, the Israeli was incorrectly adjudged to have fouled Canaries keeper Mark Bunn in the process, and Swansea's frustration was compounded when Robert Snodgrass scored a free kick to increase Norwich's cushion.

Michu struck again in the dying stages as the hosts threatened to snatch a dramatic draw, but Norwich hung on to claim maximum points and extend their unbeaten run to nine Premier League games.
