Chris Hughton: 'Grant Holt's future was top priority'

Hughton: 'Keeping Holt was vital'

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has revealed that keeping striker Grant Holt at the club was the first task on his agenda.

The future of the 31-year-old was in doubt after he submitted a transfer request at Carrow Road but the frontman changed his mind and decided to pen a new three-year deal.

"It was the main issue, the one everyone was speaking about," Hughton told BBC Radio Five Live. "The last thing we have wanted to do was take it into the pre-season period then the doubts become even more so."

Hughton was confirmed as Paul Lambert's replacement last month.
