Wes Hoolahan: 'We're desperate to prove ourselves in the Premier League'

Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan reveals that he and his teammates are determined to prove themselves in the Premier League following a win in their final pre-season game.

Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan has claimed that his side's victory over Brentford in their final pre-season match has given them a confidence boost ahead of their Premier League opener.

Hoolahan and Cameron Jerome got on the scoresheet to guide the Canaries past the Bees in a 2-1 win at Carrow Road.

The Republic of Ireland international believes that his side are in good shape ahead of the new campaign, and has admitted that they are determined to prove themselves in the top flight under Alex Neil.

Hoolahan told the club's official website: "It was a good test for us coming into next week and the start of the Premier League.

"Brentford are a solid team, so it was a tough game having played them last year. It's nice to score but it was a great through-ball from Jonny Howson and I'm just glad it's gone in because I actually thought I'd missed.

"Everybody wants to play in the Premier League. We had two good years before relegation so we're looking forward to having another crack at it. With our first game being at home we're hopeful we can put on a good show and carry on from last year. The gaffer is always determined to win and so we know have to give 100% every game."

Norwich face Crystal Palace next week at Carrow Road.
