Lafferty: 'Ireland willing to fight'

Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty has said that his country will "fight to the end" to ensure qualification for next year's European Championship.

The 27-year-old scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Ireland as they earned a crucial 1-1 draw against Hungary this evening.

Although Ireland would have reached Euro 2016 with a win, the point has kept them at the top of their qualifying group, and Lafferty has said that they will do everything they can to reach the finals for the first time in their remaining games.

"We have two games left and we need one more push," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "The fans came here for a party but the champagne is on ice.

"The squad are willing to fight to the end. This team doesn't know when to stop working. My yellow card was stupid, I was too eager. It was the right decision, my own stupidity."

Ireland will host Greece and travel to Finland in their final two group matches in October.
