Northampton Town winding-up petition adjourned until November 30

Northampton Town are given a further two weeks to secure a takeover deal, as a court hearing to decide their future is pushed back to the end of November.

A crucial court hearing which will potentially decide the future of Northampton Town has been adjourned until the end of the month.

The Cobblers are in court over unpaid taxes totalling £166,000, which forced the club to withdraw wages to players and staff in October.

Northampton Borough Council are also owed £10.25m as part of the Sixfields redevelopment project.

With the winding-up petition being pushed back until November 30, Town have now been afforded more time to secure a takeover deal.

A statement on the League Two outfit's official website read: "Northampton Town Football Club acknowledge the High Court's adjournment until November 30th of the winding up petition brought by HMRC.

"The club's role is currently to provide assistance where necessary to the ongoing process and to ensure that through this period the club continues to operate as normal.

"We understand this is a difficult situation for supporters and we would like to thank all supporters for their continued patience and support."

The council loan was provided to Northampton as part of the club's proposed plans for a new East Stand, which remains uncompleted.
