Nice confirm Ligue 1 safety after win against Lens

Nice beat Lens 2-1 to confirm their status in Ligue 1 for next season.

Nice confirmed their Ligue 1 safety with a hard-fought victory 2-1 over Lens this evening.

The away side took the lead through a Yoann Touzghar strike from the side of the penalty area.

However, Nice equalised on the half-hour mark when Jordan Amavi tapped in from close range.

After the break, Carlos Eduardo went close on two occasions for Nice, but saw his first attempt saved before another shot sailed wide.

Didier Digard then put the home side in front, poking home following Valentin Eysseric's cross and relegated Lens could not find a leveller as Nice held on for the three points.

Victory puts Nice up to 12th in the table, eight points clear of Evian, who were relegated after losing to Saint-Etienne tonight.
