Newcastle United have agreed a loan deal with an option to buy for Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, the latest report has claimed.

The Magpies' summer window has been disappointing, with the club missing out on a number of key targets, including shot-stopper James Trafford.

Toon boss Eddie Howe was thought to be keen on bringing the ex-Burnley goalkeeper to St James' Park for some time, but Manchester City have confirmed the signing of the 22-year-old.

Current number one Nick Pope has proven to be a reliable presence between the posts, but given he is now 33 years old, it is not surprising that Newcastle have looked to sign a younger replacement.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that a loan deal between the Magpies and Southampton for goalkeeper Ramsdale is in place, with his salary set to be covered by the Toon, and he will travel for a medical later this week.

Thomas Muller latest as ex-Bayern Munich star finds new club

MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign Thomas Muller as a free agent.

The German star's contract at Bayern Munich expired this summer, bringing an end to his 25-year association with the club.

Muller was thought to be surprised that the Bavarians did not offer a short-term extension, though considering he is 35 years old, it is understandable that he was moved on.

The veteran's last performances for Bayern came this summer in the revamped Club World Cup tournament, which was held in the United States.

Muller can be expected to face a number of US sides given journalist Tom Bogert reports that Canadian and MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps are finalising a deal to sign him.

Inter Milan make bid for Premier League target

Inter Milan are said to have made a bid for Atalanta BC forward Ademola Lookman, who was reported to be a target of Premier League sides such as Aston Villa and Arsenal.

Inter are set for a season of change following a difficult 2024-25 campaign that saw them finish as runners-up to Serie A champions Napoli.

The side also lost the Champions League final 5-0 against Paris Saint-Germain, succumbing to defeat at the last hurdle of Europe's premier club competition for the second time in three seasons.

In a bid to freshen the team, Nerazzurri have changed manager, with previous boss Simone Inzaghi leaving and being replaced with Cristian Chivu.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Inter intend to reinforce Chivu's attacking options, with an offer worth up to £38.9m launched for Lookman, though he adds that Atalanta are demanding a higher fee.
