Newcastle United target PSV Eindhoven striker Ola Toivonen

Newcastle United are thought to be lining up a bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Ola Toivonen.

The Swedish forward has attracted interest from a number of European clubs with a string of impressive performances in Holland over the past few seasons, including Fiorentina and Rubin Kazan.

Toivonen is thought to be valued at £8m by PSV and is being considered as a viable transfer target by Toon boss Alan Pardew.

Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign with a home match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, August 18.
