Moussa Sissoko: "I hope to play in the Champions League"

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko expresses his desire to play in the Champions League, and believes that his side need to improve and climb the Premier League.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has expressed his desire to play in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old - who moved to Tyneside from Toulouse in 2013 - has made 88 Premier League appearances for the club, and Sissoko admits that Newcastle worked hard to prevent the French international leaving St James' Park in the summer.

Speaking to French television station Canal+, Sissoko said: "I hope to play in the Champions League one day. Newcastle did everything to keep me [this summer]."

Newcastle have made a slow start to the season, with the Magpies currently sitting bottom of the Premier League after a 6-1 thrashing by Manchester City on Saturday, and Sissoko believes that his team needs to improve and climb the table.

"We are not where we should be, but we need to prove that on the pitch," Sissoko added.

The Magpies will take on Norwich City in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday, October 18.
