Report: Steve Bruce keen on Newcastle United job should Alan Pardew get sacked

Hull City boss Steve Bruce is reportedly keen on taking over at Newcastle United, should under-fire manager Alan Pardew be shown the door.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce is reportedly interested in becoming Newcastle United manager should Alan Pardew get sacked by the club.

The former Sunderland coach slammed rumours that he could replace Pardew as "disrespectful" at the weekend.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Northumberland-born Bruce is keen to take over at St James' Park should the Tyneside club decide to part company with Pardew after four years.

The 53-year-old's position as manager has been questioned in recent weeks and speculation has intensified after the Magpies succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton on Saturday.

Newcastle will head into this weekend's match against Bruce's Hull at the bottom of the Premier League table.
