Pardew rues transfer mistakes

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that the club made a mistake in not signing more players in the summer.

The Magpies were heavily linked with Mathieu Debuchy and Douglas among others, but the only player to arrive at the club was Vurnon Anita.

Pardew can now admit that at least one more player should have arrived who could have improved the first team.

"Myself, Mike [Ashley] and Derek [Llambias] all agree we should have brought one more senior player in here. For whatever reason, it did not happen," said Pardew.

"We have learnt from that, and that is what comes from the luxury of the security of the owner."

Pardew also revealed that he would like to add to his squad in January, without losing anyone.

He added: "It is a difficult window but I think we would like to get one player in and not lose anybody."

Newcastle's next game is against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday at St James' Park.
