Newcastle United are in talks to sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara, according to a report.
The 22-year-old has become a key figure for the French outfit this season, making 23 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring once, while he has also featured five times in the Europa League.
However, his contract is set to expire when the season ends, and he has turned down the option to extend that deal, opening the door to a move in his future.
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle have opened up talks with Marseille about the possibility of signing Kamara in the summer, but they face competition to land his signature.
There are several other clubs interested in buying the defensive midfielder before next season, as Manchester United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are all keeping tabs on his situation.
Newcastle United will be back in action on Thursday when they face Southampton in the Premier League.
