Chelsea join Mathieu Debuchy chase

Chelsea have reportedly joined Newcastle United in the race to sign France and Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy.

The 26-year-old has earned a number of plaudits following two impressive performances for Les Bleus at Euro 2012.

Newcastle had been expected to seal a £6m move for the full-back, but Chelsea have now expressed an interest, according to The Mirror.

Italian giants Inter Milan are also thought to be monitoring Debuchy's transfer situation.
