Blackburn 'accept Newcastle's Hanley bid'

Blackburn Rovers have reportedly accepted a £5.5m bid from Newcastle United for defender Grant Hanley.

Rafael Benitez has been pursuing the centre-back in the last few weeks having already had two bids rejected.

It was reported that Blackburn were holding out for a £6m figure, but according to Sky Sports News, the two parties have now agreed on a total just short of the asking price.

Hanley, who has made 200 appearances for Blackburn since making his senior debut in 2010, is now expected to undergo a medical with the Magpies before completing a transfer.

Newcastle, who were relegated to the Championship in May, have been busy in the summer transfer window as they have already acquired the signatures of Matz Sels, Dwight Gayle, Isaac Hayden, Matt Ritchie and Jesus Gamez.
