Sammy Ameobi: "I need to play very well"

Sammy Ameobi admits that he is playing for his Newcastle United future this season.

Sammy Ameobi has admitted that he is playing for his Newcastle United future this season.

The 22-year-old has been with the Magpies since 2008, but has still not scored a single Premier League goal for the club.

The former England Under-21 international has just one year remaining on his contract, but the attacker is hopeful of impressing boss Alan Pardew in the coming season.

"I am in the last year of my contract with Newcastle and I have to start it with a bang. I am no longer a kid. I need to play very well to either get a new contract with Newcastle or be able to make a good move elsewhere," he told Sky Sports News.

Sammy's brother Shola Ameobi left Newcastle on a free this summer.
