Shola Ameobi holds Sydney FC talks?

Former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi is reportedly in talks with Australian side Sydney FC over a summer move.

The 32-year-old was released by Newcastle last month following a 14-year spell at St James' Park.

Ameobi, who is part of the Nigeria squad for the World Cup, scored 79 goals in 402 games for the Magpies during his time on Tyneside.

While his future remains uncertain, the forward could revive his career with Sydney next season, according to PA.

Sydney are understood to be keen on boosting their squad following the recent departure of Alessando Del Piero.
